Stephen Earp Redware New England's Finest Redware

a piece of history, a family heirloom

Redware, the domestic earthen pottery of the 17th to 19th centuries, is an essential part of America's traditional craft heritage. It is rich red/brown in color and utilitarian in nature--used for hundreds of years to prepare, serve, and store food. Today, Stephen Earp Redware utilizes local materials and traditional methods, much as the early potters did, in order to bring the highest quality expressions of this pottery to a modern audience.

Over twenty years of pottery experience and extensive research infuse Earp’s work. Each item is crafted by hand, using time-honored techniques. Clays are selected from the finest regional sources; glazes feature unique blends of nearby materials, and the forms exemplify the clarity and beauty of early redware pottery. These methods bring to life a body of work rooted in the early American experience--a unique glimpse into the foundations of our national heritage.

As the potters of old would say, Stephen Earp is most pleased to be

your obedn't servant.
